The European Consumer Center Hungary

assists aggrieved passengers of bankrupt

air carrier Air Comet

10th February, 2010

The European Consumer Center Hungary (ECC Hungary) has been briefed by its Spanish partner in early February that bankruptcy proceedings of Air Comet have officially begun. ECC Hungary helps travelers in getting refunds for the tickets.

Spanish airline Air Comet announced on December 22, 2009 that it will file for protection from creditors and lay off its staff, after an attempt to sell the struggling carrier failed.

All flights of Air Comet have been suspended following the release of a statement of Air Comet's parent company, Grupo Marsans SA. According to the statement, a London High Court has constrained Air Comet from using any of its air planes and ordered the company not to sell tickets.

There are probably over 7000 passengers who had been left stranded by Air Comet, the company which specialized in cheap flights between Spain and Latin America.

The European Consumer Center Hungary offers its services to any consumer in filling out the forms and briefs the consumers regularly about their rights and the further steps needed. ECC Hungary follows the outcome of the case and informs the public about important events by giving up to date, expert advice to members of the press.

The official form which consumers are to submit in order to get a refund, together with a guide and the documents’ Hungarian translation can be downloaded from ECC Hungary’s website, www.efk.hu.
